"THE RIFT" CHOSEN AS THE MATROX G400 ENHANCED GAME OF THE WEEK

SEATTLE, WA, May 23, 2000 - "The Rift" from ThrushWave Technology (http://www.theriftgame.com) has been chosen to be featured as the G400 Enhanced Game of the Week by Matrox Graphics Inc., creators of the state-of-the-art line of G400 graphics accelerator cards. "The Rift" was chosen because of its newly added support for Environment-Mapped Bump Mapping (EMBM), which adds an unsurpassed level of detail to the spaceships, planetoids, and alien organisms of "The Rift".

The G400 Enhanced Game of the Week can be found at http://www.matrox.com/mga/3d_gaming/home.htm and screenshots of "The Rift" with EMBM enabled and disabled can be seen at http://www.matrox.com/mga/3d_gaming/bump/rift.htm.

James Thrush, development lead, explains the use and importance of bump mapping in "The Rift":
"Environment-Mapped Bump Mapping is, quite simply, beautiful. The bump detail and subtle highlights make for remarkable images. We author all of our artwork from the beginning with bump mapping in mind."

ThrushWave Technology is a small software development company founded in 1996 to create compelling 3D environments and games. "The Rift" is ThrushWave's first independent venture. More information on ThrushWave Technology and screen shots of "The Rift" can be found at http://www.theriftgame.com.
